Millions of people across the country will be coming together on Tuesday, October 6 from 6pm to 8pm to promote the partnership between police and the community they serve.
Due to COVID-19, we are unable to celebrate with our usual party in Yale Park, so this year block captains throughout the neighborhood will be hosting small gatherings for some distant socializing. If you're interested in becoming a block captain (YPNA has some materials to get you started) or finding the celebration closest to you, please contact email@example.com
For those that wish to show their support for National Night Out and Yale Park, we are having double-sided yard signs printed for anyone interested at a cost of $12 each. Last day to order is Thursday, September 24.
The Yale Park Neighborhood has been designated a Crime Watch Patrol Area by the Crime Prevention Unit of the Richardson Police Department (RPD). Crime Watch Patrols are an extension of the Neighborhood Crime Watch Program.
Neighborhood Watch was created to obtain citizen involvement in discouraging and preventing residential crime. The program supplements police activities by providing extra eyes, ears, and caring. Neighborhood Watch is people looking out for people and is considered a major deterrent against crime.
Residents of Yale Park are asked to consider becoming members of the Crime Watch Patrol. The first step is to submit an online application with the RPD. Applicants then attend mandatory Crime Watch Patrol Training, which is schedule at various times throughout the year.
Upon successful completion of the patrol training, neighborhood residents volunteer their time and vehicles to patrol their neighborhood, and report all suspicious activities to the Police Department. The City of Richardson supplies patrols with reflective vests and Crime Watch Patrol magnetic vehicle signs to increase the visibility of the patrol.
Crime Watch Patrol members are prohibited from carrying any type of weapons while patrolling, including CHL holders that become members. This program is to observe and report activity only.
